Yoga for Meditators:
with Jonathan Millett
FRI | 28 Sept, 26 Oct, 30 Nov | 19:00 – 20:30
Learning to sit in meditation is not as easy as it looks. The sitting posture needs be alert and stable and at the same time relaxed and at ease. Finding a balance between these two aspects can be a challenge and an uncomfortable posture can be a real distraction. Yoga practice can be of assistance by building alignment, strength and flexibility in the body. The postures and breathing techniques taught in yoga can also relax the body and mind and develop focus.
These classes are very useful for people starting in meditation and for those who have been doing it for a while but who realise they could do with some help in progressing in their practice. The classes are suitable for any level of previous experience with yoga, Iyengar yoga’s use of props ensures that the poses are accessible to all.
Jonathan Millett has been practising hatha yoga in the Iyengar style since 2004. He has also spent 5 weeks in India studying at the Iyengar Institute in Pune. Since qualifying to teach in 2017 he has been teaching regular classes at the Iyengar Institute of South London. In addition he co-facilities the Monday meditation sessions at Jamyang. He has previously taught Iyengar yoga to meditators on retreats at Land of Joy.
Booking is not mandatory but highly recommended it because Jamyang can give you a better service
