Spring is in the air & it’s time to start working on that summer body & find some adventure. The activities below are extreme & all over the planet, so get packing & get your adrenaline flowing.
1. Tour of New Zealand
The first multi-day cycling stage race ever held in New Zealand. One group starts at the tip of the North Island & the other at the bottom of the South Island. They will meet in the middle, at the parliament buildings in Wellington.
2. 2nd Hungarian Games CrossFit
The games will be hosted by the CrossFit B’Bros, providing the perfect place for the competition. Concept 2 will provide the rowers & Double Cross Challenge will organize the games. For male & female athletes in RX, scaled & masters categories.
3. Athens Throwdown
A two-day international event in Athens. Winners share a total cash prize of 20,700 euros & sponsors’ gifts of more than 5,000 euros.
4. Arctic Man Ski & Sno-Go Classic
Among the world’s Toughest downhill Ski races & an exciting snowmobile race, all wrapped up as one. The team skier starts at an elevation of 5,800 feet & drops 1700 feet in less than two miles to the bottom where they meets with their snowmobiling partner.
5. Cooley Classic
A race giving swimmers a chance to hit the swells of three famous surf breaks, Snapper Rocks, Coolangatta & Kirra. Open to swimmers of all abilities, the 2.5 kilometre race also has a shorter sister race of 500 metres. Both races end on the sands of Kirra Beach.
Forget the standard 5k, 10k & half marathon races, get a new distance under your belt. Kilomathon features distances of 13.1k & 6.2k for adults & a 2.62k race for children.
7. Bartica Easter Regatta
An annual festival that takes place during Easter weekend. Featuring everything from water sports to boxing to a parade & beauty pageant.
8. Mammoth Pond Skim
Crowds fill up Canyon Lodge to watch the craziest skiers & snowboarders straight line it across two ice cold ponds. The first 50 competitors in Superhero themed costumes will get a coveted spot in the 2017 skim. No costume, no entry.
9. Bushmen Experience Namibia
An intense immersion in the African nature & one of its ancient cultures, the Bosciman. You will live an unforgettable experience. A fully equipped 4×4 will set up in the middle of nature to allow a taste of true African expeditions.
10. Hallaton Hare Pie Scramble & Bottle Kicking
An ancient custom with two parts. First a charity dole & second a mass “ballgame” played with small wooden casks called bottles. Injuries are common as the scrum heaves over fields, fences & streams in its path. Play can continue until after dark & the game is decided by the best of three bottles.
11. Oregon Trail Rally
Part of the inaugural season for the North American Rally Cup, including hosting the longest rally weekend in the United States.
