Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba as a combination of his martial studies, his philosophy, and his religious beliefs. Aikido has many fitness, health and mental benefits. Ueshiba’s goal was to create an art that practitioners could use to defend themselves while also protecting their attacker from injury.

6. North London Aikido

The North London Aikido practice aikido under the guidance of instructors from the Aikikai Hombu Dojo and are committed to following the approach to teaching and training exemplified by Doshu and the senior instructors at Hombu Dojo. Their manner and style of training are technical syllabus and their grading syllabus are based on those of the Aikikai Hombu Dojo.

7. Shodokan East London

Shodokan East London trains at the amazing, brand new facility CitySport on Goswell Road, London. Our class is Tuesdays from 1845 – 2100. Anyone can practice Shodokan Aikido. There are people in their 70’s still practicing regularly. Safety is important and everyone who trains should make sure they can continue training for many years without major injuries.

8. Iwama Aikido London

The Iwama Shuren Dojo follows the teaching of Saito Hitohira Sensei, and is commited to the correct transmission of Dento Iwama Ryu Aikido.

20. Notting Hill Aikikai

Why not try the Notting Hill Aikikai, adults are welcome to start training at any time and are encouraged to drop in and watch a class or try one first hand.

There are no minimum fitness standards nor do you need to have had any prior exposure to martial arts. All you need is an open mind and some loose fitting comfortable clothes to begin.
