Why runners get injured and the role of running technique and strength training in injury prevention.

I am a lifelong competitive runner, having run at school, university and county level and for my local club. However, frequent injury problems resulting in less time running and more time seeing physiotherapists prompted a search for another way. This lead to the discovery of Lee Saxby’s training methods and the concept that we can change the way we run and move to become stronger, more skilful and healthier runners. This approach has been hugely successful for me so I became a Born to Run Coach in order to teach others and to continue on my lifelong learning pathway. I am also a UKA Leader in Running Fitness and help with Wirral ACs Beginners and Improvers Group.
I do not have a background in fitness. I am a Veterinary Surgeon with a PhD in Immunology and I have worked both in veterinary practice and research. Running technique coaching is a new venture for me and I am hoping to help more people get over their injuries and become stronger, healthier runners.
