Various locations on the Oregon Coast
People come from around the globe to learn about the gray whales that travel the Oregon coast every year. While whales are visible from Oregon’s shores all year, some months are better for viewing than others.
In winter nearly 20,000 gray whales pass by from mid-December to mid-January traveling south to the warm waters of Baja Mexico.
In spring watching starts late in March as the whales travel north to Alaska. Starting around the end of March until June.
During summer & fall whales feed along the Oregon coast from June to mid-November. There aren’t large numbers of whales to see during this time, but viewing is consistent every day.
